Beth O. Canavan is executive vice president of Tiffany & Co., the internationally renowned American jeweler. In this position, she is responsible for retail, business and direct marketing sales in the United States and Canada, as well as retail store expansion.
When Ms. Canavan joined Tiffany in 1987 as director of retail store development, Tiffany had eight stores in the U.S. Today, the company operates more than 70 stores in the U.S. and Canada. Ms. Canavan has led this store expansion strategy while evolving the design of new store formats to achieve higher productivity, profitability and customer service. She has been recognized for the strong growth and expansion of the U.S. business.
Ms. Canavan was named an officer of the company in 1990, and in 1992 became vice president and general manager of the New York flagship store. In 1994, Ms. Canavan added oversight of the New York region and subsequently all stores on the East Coast. In 1997, Ms. Canavan was named senior vice president, expanding her responsibilities to include all stores in the U.S. and Canada. She was promoted to executive vice president in 2000, with expanded oversight to include business sales and direct marketing.
Ms. Canavan began her career at Marshall Field & Company in Chicago. She is a member of the board of UrbanGlass and the Women’s Forum. A native of Michigan, she earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in retailing and communications.
