Peter Schneirla is chief gemologist for Tiffany & Co. A world-renowned gemologist and jewelry expert, he personally advises customers on selecting jewelry and articulates the many superior qualities of Tiffany’s gemstones and custom settings.
In addition, he advises on the sourcing and acquisition of exceptional gemstones, along with pricing strategies and product assortment opportunities. He combines these duties with client development initiatives in the U.S. and international locations.
Mr. Schneirla’s in-depth technical expertise, honed over decades in the international jewelry, colored stone and diamond markets, has made him an important media spokesman on gemological subjects. He has extensive experience in this role, appearing frequently on network television and lecturing on the topic of jewelry at customer events and museums.
Before joining Tiffany, Mr. Schneirla was executive vice president of worldwide sales at Harry Winston. For many years prior to that, he owned and operated P.C. Schneirla Inc., specializing in the acquisition and sale of fine gemstones and jewelry for private customers. From 1984 to 1993, he worked for Tiffany & Co. as vice president of the diamond office, where he spearheaded a diamond report substantiating Tiffany diamonds as the world’s finest, which led to the industry-leading diamond culture that exists at Tiffany today. He ultimately served as Tiffany’s senior vice president of jewelry merchandise and manufacturing.
Mr. Schneirla holds an undergraduate degree from Drew University, a graduate gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and is a Fellow of the Gemological Association of Great Britain.
