Melvyn Kirtley

Melvyn Kirtley is chief gemologist and vice president of global category marketing for Tiffany & Co. In this capacity, he is responsible for the global strategy and development of the company’s bridal, high jewelry and Schlumberger categories, while serving as a principal spokesperson for the brand, providing gemological expertise to clients and press from around the world.

Mr. Kirtley began his career with Tiffany & Co. as a sales professional in 1985, assuming the role of sales manager of the Main Floor in the New York store in 1992, and in 1993 advancing to the position of director. In 1995 he was promoted to vice president and general manager of the New York store, and in 2004 he became group vice president of worldwide client development. In this role, he was responsible for client development initiatives in the U.S. and international locations.

In 2008, Mr. Kirtley was also named Group Vice President, Europe and was responsible for sales and operations in Tiffany locations throughout the UK and Europe, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands and Czech Republic.

With more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Kirtley has a deep understanding and passion for the superior qualities of Tiffany’s spectacular diamonds and gemstones, the natural world and Tiffany design.

A native of England, Mr. Kirtley spent many years in specialty retail management in London, and also honed his customer service skills while working for British Airways. He studied business at Durham Polytechnic, in Durham, England, and received a graduate gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, California.
