The Tiffany Setting

The Tiffany® Setting is an expression of love’s many facets

The Tiffany® Setting represents Charles Lewis Tiffany’s reinvention of the most celebratory of pieces in 1886. Like its iconic silhouette, which elevates the diamond above the band, the Tiffany® Setting elevates love above all else.

The ultimate icon of love for over 130 years, the Tiffany® Setting is a study in innovation and the first ring design in history to lift the diamond off the band. Flawlessly engineered by Tiffany’s 4,000 in-house master artisans, the six-prong setting virtually disappears—lifting the round brilliant diamond into the light for maximum brilliance. Defining the engagement ring as we know it today, the inventive solitaire ring features a triple excellent cut diamond—the highest grade in the industry.

In 1886, Charles Lewis Tiffany introduced the Tiffany® Setting and redefined the standard for the engagement ring as we know it today. At the end of the 19th century, rings were heavily embellished with ornate details and gemstones set low against the band. Fueled by a desire to reinvent the most celebratory of pieces, Mr. Tiffany created a design that showcased the diamond rather than the setting. The result? The Tiffany® Setting—a design so revolutionary and coveted that at the time, Tiffany & Co. had to publicly release statements warning about counterfeits. Today, the Tiffany® Setting remains as indelible as ever—often imitated, never duplicated.
